DISTRIBUTION INITIATIVES:
"Hobo Jungles" is intended for theatrical release, broadcast,
and distribution in the home video market. "Hobo Jungles"
will be marketed toward a target audience of educated, urban,
professionals and students between the ages of 18 and 40. Whether
they are seeking adventure, escape from their daily routine, or a
unique perspective on America, viewers will explore the sub-culture
that exists out on the rails. Most people harbor curiosity about
hoboes and tramps, and, in any given group, at least one person will
boast of a relative or friend who has jumped freights. People who
enjoy extreme sports and alternative travel will be intrigued by the
freight-hopping experience. Older viewers will remember times when
uncles and brothers flocked to the steam engines seeking opportunity
during the depression. An audience of freight riders and their
relatives, train enthusiasts, and history buffs will be cultivated
by maintaining a database, offering benefit screenings, and through
available mailing lists.
"Hobo Jungles" will play the festival circuit. Festival venues include Sundance, Toronto,
New York, Seattle, Berlin, Venice, Amsterdam, Bilbao, and Leipzig.
Worthy Entertainment will hire a distributor for a domestic theatrical
release. October Films, Fox Searchlight, Sony Pictures Classics, Arrow
Entertainment, and Seventh Art Releasing are among the potential
distributors. Domestic broadcast opportunities for "Hobo Jungles"
include HBO "reel time" series, The Discovery Channel,
and the national PBS schedule. Worthy Entertainment will
enlist a sales agent to pursue distribution to foreign markets.
In addition, Worthy Entertainment will reversion "Hobo Jungles" to an
interactive format for distribution in the educational market. An
interactive version will provide high school social studies students
with an opportunity to choose a character and determine their own
route while learning historically and socially relevant information.
Users will be able to access supporting facts and figures, and sample
Hobo drawings, poems, and songs.
